Jade Barnes-Richardson is part of the cadre of up and coming, young designers. A 2008 graduate of Buckinghamshire New University, Barnes-Richardson used this stepping stone as a jumping off point to realize her vision for a variety of unique products and pieces for the home. Barnes-Richardson’s vision is a marriage of simplicity and function that is rendered with an eye for style and whimsy. While still in the beginning stages of her design career, we can’t wait to see what Barnes-Richardson comes up with next.
Jade Barnes-Richardson seems to see the order within disorder and no where is this more apparent than her design in collaboration with Normann Copenhagen, Hang On, coat rack and wall hanging that uses the disorder in the form of a tangled cluster of hangers to actually create order. It is in pieces like this that we see her whimsy colour her more orderly, functional side. Normann Copenhagen provided a platform for Barens-Richardson to offer her Hang On to the larger marketplace. Normann Copenhagen known for introducing emerging design talent to a wider public and bringing together unique talents for design collaborations.
