Leave it to an architect to create a shelving system that’s just as versatile as building blocks. The work of JDS Architects, this modular system lets you create a shelving unit to fit your particular space and style. “Our projects are humanly designed, politically engaged, financially viable and structurally realistic,” says the designer.
Julien De Smedt on the design: “How to be specific and generic altogether? Shelving systems have a tendency to achieve one concern but never both. We decided to dimension shelving units based on the generic measurements of things to store and display while allowing for them to be combined according to specific needs and desires… the result can be at times a random stack of boxes or a coordinated grid of efficient storage… or both!”
Three sizes offered but there are actually five shapes to experiment with, depending on how you position the two rectangles. The negative spaces created between them give you even more orientation options. Each oak shelf includes two light grey steel clip to connect two boxes together. Shelves are available with or without backboards; shelves with backboards include a wall mounting kit, which can be purchased separately for shelves without backboards.
The Stacked system provides a storage solution with endless possibilities. With the use of small clips, the modules can be rearranged to create all manner of shelving set ups, room dividers or side tables. The design can be easily changed by playing around with the space between the modules or mounting them directly onto the wall.
Using the small clips you can arrange the boxes to quickly create shelf systems, room dividers or side tables.
Each individual oak block is supplied with two light grey clips.
