The idea behind Toj clothes racks is to bring the wardrobe out from the cupboard. Designer Simon Legald has created a clothes rack with an industrial and simple expression for Normann Copenhagen. Its function is evident and its simple construction and provides space for clothes, shoes and bags.

Simon Legald has cut to the bone in this minimalistic construction consisting of a skeleton, hanging rail and shelf. Screws and bolts are accentuated and the holes in the shelf’s design cast creative shadows on the floor.

Simon Legald explains: “I wanted to design a clothes rail that could be displayed openly – a piece that was more furniture than a basic rack for clothes. Toj works well in many different environments since its expression is clean and minimalistic, and it is the individual person who gives Toj character.”

Simon Legald graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products. Simon’s designs are often created in a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. He also likes to incorporate the techniques that are necessary for the structure of a product into the design by highlighting them visually.
